Rent is the big differentiator — but coworking and food close the gap fast in Western Europe. Hover the legend to compare each bucket.

How we score a city

Every destination is scored on the four things that decide whether remote work survives the move — not just how nice the photos look.

  • Monthly cost — studio rent, a coworking pass for ~22 days, groceries, eating out, local transport and a data SIM.
  • Internet speed — median fixed broadband from published speed-index data, plus fibre availability.
  • Visa path — how easy it is to stay legally, the income requirement and the realistic duration.
  • Nomad score — community size, safety, weather, healthcare and overall quality of life for a remote worker.
